Straws -- Stainless Steel, Two Lengths
Practicality:
Stainless steel straws in 2 lengths, 8.5 and 9.5 inches, and 2 different diameters (Tea and Smoothie). The 9.5 inch straw is perfect for Tervis and Yeti bottles and taller cups. The material used is food-grade 304 steel, which is the most recyclable steel available.
Changes To Your Routine:
The switch to reusable straws is not effortless by any means. You have to remember to bring them along and then you have to remember to tell the server BEFORE YOU ORDER that you don't want a plastic straw, and then you have to remind them that you don't want a plastic straw a second time when they bring you one anyway. But once you adapt to these challenges, skipping a plastic straw becomes like second nature. I keep several in my glove compartment so that I don't forget them when I leave the house.
What It's Made Of:
Food-grade 304 stainless steel. Guaranteed not to rust, bend, or discolor. Fully recyclable at a facility that recycles metals.
Disposal:
Recycle facility for metals. Metal is "infinitely recyclable," which means it can be melted down and reformed an infinite number of times without losing integrity or degrading in quality.
Why You Should Use It:
I think that plastic straws will be banned in the US in the near future anyway, so you might as well get a jump on it! Single use plastics like straws and plastic utensils contaminate the recycling stream and jam up the sorting machines at recycling facilities. You are better off just avoiding them all together when you show up with your super-cool steel straws.
